You can find more details on our landing page: https://belowzerowear.com/pages/4-linien
-
Our products are a regular fit. If an item runs particularly large or small, we will indicate this in the product description. If you are between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger one. If you are unsure, please feel free to contact us via live chat – we will help you find the right size.
-
For very cold days, we recommend our models with Sorona® Aura lining. This special, partially natural fiber retains body heat exceptionally well without making the clothing feel bulky or heavy. This keeps you comfortably warm without restricting your freedom of movement. The lining provides a light, flexible feel that proves its worth even during extended periods in the cold.
-
Mid-layers are warming intermediate layers worn between your ski underwear and jacket. They insulate without trapping moisture. Ideal for very cold conditions, layering, or for extra warmth when you're not constantly moving.
Materials & Technology
-
You can find detailed information about the materials and composition of each of our products on the respective product page. Simply scroll down to the "Material & Care" section. All relevant details are listed there.
Additionally, you can also click on the "Sustainability" section to learn more about the product's ecological footprint.
-
Our jackets offer reliable protection against moisture with a 20,000 mm water column rating. Thanks to a breathability of 20,000 g/m²/24h, moisture is quickly wicked away from the body – ideal for active pursuits.
-
The water column rating describes the pressure the material can withstand without letting water through. 20,000 mm means you'll stay dry even in heavy snow or rain. Breathability indicates how much water vapor (sweat) the material can release in 24 hours – at 20,000 g/m²/24h, this is very high.
-
Sorona® Aura is a plant-based fiber that we use for insulation in many of our jackets and pants. It efficiently retains body heat, is very lightweight, and maintains its loft for years – even after multiple washes. Compared to conventional polyester, Sorona® requires significantly less energy to produce and generates fewer CO₂ emissions.
-
Polypropylene is a lightweight, synthetic fiber with excellent moisture-wicking properties. It quickly transports sweat away from the skin to the fabric surface, where it evaporates rapidly. This keeps your skin dry, reduces the feeling of cold, and prevents skin irritation. Polypropylene dries significantly faster than natural fibers, is durable, retains its shape, and is resistant to mold. Another important advantage: Polypropylene does not absorb unpleasant odors, so you can wear the underwear for several days without it smelling. This makes it particularly suitable for active people who are frequently on the go and rely on functional, dependable underwear.
-
Merino wool is excellent at regulating body temperature – it keeps you warm when it's cold and cool when it's warm. The fibers are fine and soft, making the garments comfortable against the skin and preventing itching. Merino wool absorbs moisture without feeling wet and remains breathable. It is also odor-neutralizing, which is especially beneficial during extended activities. This makes merino the ideal natural fiber for functional, comfortable underwear.
-
PFCs are environmentally harmful chemicals used in many water-repellent finishes. We completely avoid them and rely on environmentally friendly alternatives – without compromising on water resistance.
Care & Storage
-
Skiwear should be washed regularly, but not too often, to maintain its functionality. Washing it too infrequently can clog pores and impair breathability. Therefore, we recommend a thorough wash at the end of the season or when heavily soiled.
Wash the garment at 30°C on a gentle cycle using a special detergent for technical fabrics. Do not use fabric softener and turn the garment inside out.
You should waterproof your clothes after washing or during the wash cycle to maintain their water-repellent properties. The waterproofing is best activated by tumble drying. Turn the garment inside out before drying. Start the dryer on a gentle cycle, optionally adding tennis balls, for about 20 minutes.
After using the dryer, you can let the products air dry completely. Avoid direct sunlight or radiators to prevent material damage.
-
Jackets and trousers from Belowzero can generally be tumble dried briefly – but only at a low temperature and if the care label permits it. Especially after waterproofing, the heat helps to reactivate the water-repellent function.
Mid-layers such as fleece products or base layers are sometimes also suitable for tumble drying – but here too, it is important to pay close attention to the care instructions.
You can find more information about proper care in our blog post on care and storage .
-
Wash or air out clothes before storing them and make sure they are completely dry. Hang jackets and trousers loosely on hangers, ideally in a dry, dark wardrobe. Avoid airtight storage – the materials need air circulation to maintain their properties.
Detailed care and storage tips can be found in the blog post on care and storage .
-
Wash merino wool garments on the wool cycle at 30°C using a special wool detergent. Avoid spinning to prevent damage to the fibers. Lay flat on a towel to dry – do not hang or tumble dry.
Merino wool doesn't need to be washed after every wear. Thorough airing is usually sufficient, as it remains odor-neutral and is self-cleaning.
Sustainability & Production
-
We use recycled polyester, certified merino wool, and Sorona® Aura – a plant-based fiber for insulation. We select all materials with durability, functionality, and environmental friendliness in mind.
-
Our clothing is manufactured in selected, specialized partner factories in Europe and China. It is important to us that these factories adhere to fair working conditions, act in a socially responsible manner, and operate according to international standards.
We only work with partners who have many years of experience in manufacturing high-quality functional clothing and who meet our quality and sustainability standards. A large portion of our products are manufactured in Europe, while individual technical components – such as fabrics or linings – come from Asia if better quality or availability is guaranteed there.
Transparency, durability and responsible business practices are our top priorities when selecting our production partners.
-
Our products are designed to last for many years. They are made from durable materials, boast high-quality workmanship, and feature a timeless design that never goes out of style. Furthermore, they can be repaired if needed, extending their lifespan even further.
-
For us, sustainability means: less, but better. We want you to only need one product that you can use in many different ways. We produce responsibly, rely on durable materials and fair conditions – for clothing you can wear with a clear conscience.
